Genexis develops smart routers, gateways, access points and extenders. This hardware offers a wide range of possibilities, as long as users are guided through them properly. While similar devices still rely on manuals for setup, Genexis saw an opportunity: make intuitive guidance part of the product itself.

Our contribution
We researched the terms different user groups actually use, helping us simplify the navigation considerably. We also explored what parents and caregivers expect from parental controls.
We replaced the old router interface and simplified the experience step by step. Features were grouped more logically and long forms were broken down into smaller steps. Important actions, such as changing Wi-Fi settings, running network diagnostics and sharing Wi-Fi details, were made much easier to find.
In practice
For business users, we added a search function to quickly find users and devices across large networks.
The dashboard highlights the three most important issues based on the type of user. A network administrator, for example, can immediately see where action is needed.
Instead of asking for everything at once, we guide users through each process step by step, improving workflows for both consumers and network administrators.
Design system
Genexis did not yet have a design system, so we first needed to create a solid foundation that could scale over time. We developed copy guidelines, component libraries, variables and design tokens, and connected Figma to platforms and frameworks such as Frontify and Storybook.
This created a foundation that helps design and development work together more consistently, quickly and effectively.
